In 2014, DJI, the world’s largest consumer drone manufacturer, announced the Inspire 1. Trailing on the success of the Phantom line of easy to fly camera quadcopter, the Inspire 1 is an all-in-one system that is aimed squarely at the prosumer market segment. I’ve been following and using DJI products for a few years now and I have to say they’ve really done a nice job with the Inspire 1. Here is my full review. [Read more…]

amazon prime air drone

Many dismissed Amazon’s announcement that they would like to start making deliveries via quadcopter as nothing more than an elaborate marketing stunt. The company seemed at least somewhat more serious about the idea when they sent a formal request to the FAA to allow them to test their package delivering prototypes near their headquarters. I was recently in Europe as part of a team of four photographers/videographers assigned to cover a large regional convention. To kick off the event, the company had organized a road rally wherein groups of attendees would drive in from four different countries and all converge in Vienna, Austria. The four starting points were Venice, Munich, Budapest, and Prague. I was assigned to the Prague leg of the rally. [Read more…]
